“I saw a meme the other day. I think it was supposed to warn me about the ways Satan operates, but all it did was make him sound like the sanest motherfucker out there. It read: Jesus says believe in Me.

Satan whispers believe in yourself.”

While Denise was speaking, Tara kept chewing on her pastry. She washed the taste of custard down with some tea before answering.

“Yeah — I’m not a fan of giving up your power to the likes of Jesus. But I’m also pretty sure old Donald also believes in himself. It’s not always good advice you know.”
